Event Photography: Comparing "Apples to Oranges"

They are similar in ways that they are both round, but completely different when you take a closer look. The same logic applies to the person you have appointed to photograph your event. Just because that person is holding a camera doesn’t mean they know how to capture dynamic or exciting photos, much less know what to do in low-light situations. So lets break this down even further with a few photo examples from non-professionals and with me, a professional event photographer.

I am a Different Kind of Photographer

What sets me apart from others is my ability to capture candid moments of real life situations using my creative eye. Combining visual elements from separate sources to create a single photograph that is rich in detail, sharp in focus, and vibrant in color.

Event Photography: Capturing a Story

You would think that covering a board meeting in an office space would only yield boring images. To most sure however, I am able to create a beautiful photo, rich in details that helps shows off your company’s culture.

Some of the images below are from various events where a company used an internal person to snap a few photos to save on a photography budget. That person normally has zero training in photography, doesn’t have the proper gear and might not understand how to create a powerful image to help tell a company’s story. Sure they could snap a photo, but we both know you need something much more.

Example 1: Meetings

Another very common request is to capture candid moments of the audience enjoying themselves. This is where my photography really shine while others normally fall short. They fail not for a lack of trying, but because they don’t have the proper training, experience, professional gear or they don’t have the same kind of “eye” or talent for making a normal scene into an exciting image.

Example 2: Networking Events / Candid Moments
