What is a license? Images are the intellectual property of the creator, but for that property to generate income, photographers have to know their production costs, the value of their work, and the value of the usage their client is licensing.
I was contacted by Nick of Bob's Steak & Chophouse to provide professional special event photography for his client John. This was going to be John's 40th year anniversary with his fellow brothers from his fraternity. Some of these guys haven't seen one another in a very long time, this was the makings for a special night!
I was honored to be asked by SCORE to provide photography for the Small Business Accelerator that was held in Austin on November 9 at the University of Texas campus. The accelerator brought together some amazing subject experts including the internationally recognized small business marketing expert Ron Crates, who delivered effective strategies for growing a business and Guillermo Ortiz of Geek Powered Studios, LLC who offered great inside into SEO and marketing.
The story begins in September of 2015 in Grapevine, TX. Ted was tasked to work an event and after going through every single person qualified to work with him, he eventually turned to one of his best friends at work and asked for suggestions. Ted's friend Billy suggested that Lynn would be able to help. So Ted picked up the phone, introduced himself and asked Lynn if she would be willing to assist him with his work event. Lynn said "of course!"
I was invited for the third year in a row to be one of the professional event photographers for the musical festival known as Euphoria. Like the years before, it was located out at Carson Creek Ranch outskirts of the great city of Austin Texas just off of highway 183. This year's lineup was pretty good and I know a lot of hard work went into the production of this event.
I was contacted again to provide event photography for a few clients during SXSW in Austin TX. They needed someone who was able to photograph in really low light environments and be able to navigate a sea of people without disrupting the party. This is my specialty! I thrive in environments like this. :)
